Above normal start but a big cool down is expected by mid-week
Temperatures today will be in the mid to upper 70s under mostly sunny skies. Tomorrow, we’ll cool by a couple degrees, but remain in the 70s. We will have breezy conditions for the next few days.
We have an exciting new pattern this week that looks like it’ll be the “big weather event” to finally and officially close out our fire season. There is a low pressure dropping in from the north bringing in much cooler temps and some decent moisture that will provide us with much needed precipitation. We’re not expecting a wash out by any means, but we will see rain last over a couple days.
We will see temperatures drop into the 50s and 60s starting Wednesday and this pattern will carry through the rest of the week.
Starting Tuesday night, the rain will begin. Expect rain on Wednesday that will continue into Thursday. There is a decent chance for some mountain snow on Thursday and a chance for a bit of a wintry mix for us here on the high desert. Don’t expect much accumulation on the mountains since the ground is still a bit warm. With that being said, winter sports are just around the corner! Mount Bachelor is expected to open for the season on November 29th.
Take a look outside 30-60mins after sunset to try and catch Comet A3. Look west, the comet should be just to the right of Venus. You should be able to catch it until the end of October. If it’s hard to see with the naked eye, pull your camera out and send your pictures in to KTVZ.com!
