Mild and dry pattern this weekend, rain returns late Sunday
The weather pattern this weekend will see a return to the mild conditions with temperatures in the low 70s. Normal high temps for mid-October are the low 60s. Over the weekend there will be a mixture of clouds and sunshine, with much more sunshine than cloud cover. A batch of rain is noticeable off the coast but will be held up by the ridge of high pressure that is warming the state.
Today highs will be in the low 70s under mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies. The skies will be mostly clear tonight so we can get a nice look at the nearly full moon.
Sunday will be a day of transition with highs in the 70s as the flow of air arrives from the southwest. This will also be in tandem with an increase in cloud cover. The clouds will fill the skies by late in the afternoon ahead of some rain that will slice through Central Oregon overnight into Monday. The rain is going to arrive from the northwest, but since we are expected to be on the mild side, the chance for snow is near zero. Only chance for some flakes will be the highest peaks of the Cascades early Monday morning.
The rain event Monday will be similar to Thursday’s event with respect to timing, not much snow is anticipated. Showers develop just after midnight in our area and push east into the morning. The line of light rain will cross the region before noon with about a tenth of an inch expected. There should be some lingering showers in the afternoon, but generally spotty and disorganized. Winds will be noticeable but not overwhelming.
Showers end before sunset Monday and we will be dry and cool Tuesday through Thursday. Friday looks like we are in for another round of light rain as temps will be in the 60s
