Rainy pattern ends, dry and milder into the weekend

The fast moving wave of rain and some mountain snow is clearing to the east and will open the door for a dry spell into the weekend.  There will be a cold night ahead under mostly clear skies as the mercury in the thermometer drops to the low and middle 20s.

A slow rebound Thursday to the middle 50s will make the region feel more like November than October. This will be changing to a milder scenario as we go into Friday. Friday will be mostly sunny and dry with highs in the middle to low 60s.

The pattern of above normal weather conditions continues into Saturday, but the skies will be filling with clouds as the day moves along. The highs Saturday will approach 70 early in the afternoon, before the region gets overrun by cloud cover.

Overcast skies will define the evening in Central Oregon, ahead of a few days of precipitation.  Sunday will be cloudy and cool with showers off and on through the day. High level snow is likely a well as the Cascades begin the transition from summer to winter.

Next week will be crisp with highs in the upper 40s and periods of rain and snow.  Heavy mountain snow may provide a decent layer of new snow that has the potential to linger through the winter.
