Mild and dry pattern until a big shift starting Sunday
Temperatures are jumping quite a bit from where they were yesterday. We will reach the low to mid 60s today under mostly sunny skies. It will be a quiet and dry day. Lows tonight in the 30s and 40s. Bundle up for your Friday night Halloweekend plans.
Tomorrow, temperatures will creep up a few more degrees reaching the upper 60s. Clouds will roll in Saturday ahead of the rain and snow that will begin on Sunday.
Rain is expected to start overnight Saturday into early Sunday morning for our region. I’m forecasting snow along the mountains on Sunday but better snowfall totals will accumulate in the following days. The high desert will see scattered showers on Sunday and temperatures drop back into the 50s. A chance for a bit of a wintry mix in Southern Deschutes and Sisters.
Monday, highs will barely reach 50 degrees. Snowfall along the mountains will start in the morning. Central Oregon will generally see rain but higher elevations like La Pine, Sunriver, and Sisters will see snowflakes mixed in.
There will be a short break in rain and snow Tuesday before the pattern continues on and off through the rest of the week. As of right now, Wednesday night through Thursday appears to be the heaviest snowfall period, with snow levels possibly dropping as low at 3000ft.
Over the course of next week, the Cascades will likely accumulate anywhere from 6-12 inches.
Have a safe Halloweekend! The search for the pumpkin in my forecast is almost done. Happy Friday!
