A cool and dry Thanksgiving with a warming into next week
Today, I am thankful for a beautiful forecast! It is cold this morning, but our afternoon temperatures will reach the low to mid 40s, which is right about normal for this time of year. We will see mostly sunny skies through the afternoon. We’ll near those freezing temperatures right after you finish your Thanksgiving dinner, just in time to be warmed up with pie and hot cider. We’ll continue to cool into the night, bottoming out in the teens and 20s once again.
You shouldn’t have any major difficulties traveling today. You’ll likely have some frost to scrape off your car this morning, and you may run into some fog if you're leaving Central Oregon, but those are the only nuisances today. Mountain passes are clear and shouldn’t be too difficult if your car is prepared for winter travel. Bring your emergency winter car kit and make sure you have your snow tires or chains.
It will be cold tomorrow morning as you hit the shops for black Friday, so bundle up!
A ridge of high pressure starts to move inland over the weekend and we’ll see a warming trend into early next week. We won’t be warm, but we will climb into the 50s in a number of areas, which is above average. The dry and clear pattern will continue.
Happy Thanksgiving! Have a great holiday and safe travels.
