Above normal temperatures continue but cold temperatures are right around the corner
Highs today will top out in the 40s and 50s as a ridge of high pressure builds into our region. We should see temperatures in the 40s and 50s again on Thursday. Winds will be calm this afternoon. Lows tonight will be in the teens and 20s once again.
Skies will be mostly clear today, but will increase to partly or mostly cloudy tomorrow ahead of a change in our weather pattern.
By Thursday night, the high pressure will break down as an incoming low pressure, or a trough, and cold arctic air move in. On Friday, our temperatures will drop drastically, back into the 30s. We keep the cold pattern through the weekend as temperatures remain below normal for this time of year.
As this system moves in, there is a chance we see a few flurries fall on Friday, but it doesn’t look to be any more than that. No accumulation is expected across the high desert. Unfortunately, I’m looking at little to no accumulation for our Cascades as well. Passes should stay bare and mountain conditions will remain icy until we get a decent run of fresh snow.
Happy Wednesday and enjoy the weather! It’ll be a beautiful January day.
