Mild for one more day before cold air takes over Friday

We have highs today in the mid to upper 40s. Skies will start mostly clear but increasing cloud cover is expected into the afternoon. We will be overcast for the second half of the day. Lows tonight are in the teens and 20s again.

We’ve had a ridge of high pressure overhead the last few days, but it is officially breaking down today, making way for cold arctic air to take over on Friday. Temperatures will drop into the 30s starting Friday. We’ll keep the cold for the weekend before heating up to normal next week.

The chance for snow on Friday has slimmed down, but it’s not zero. Most of us won’t see anything, but there is the possibility that you’re looking out your window or sitting at a stop light at the right time and you say to yourself “Is it snowing right now?” as a few flakes fall. It will be a short-lived event and no accumulation is expected, but you could be one of the few that catch a few snowflakes floating around.

The big story is the cold weekend ahead. Happy Thursday and have a good day today!
