Overnight snow will make for a difficult commute today
A Winter Weather Advisory is in place for Crook County and a Winter Storm Warning is active for areas along 97, including Prineville until this afternoon. Although the brunt of the storm has passed overnight, the snowfall we received last night will make for a tricky commute this morning. Drive safely and take your time. School closures are updated on our website.
The surface low pressure system that brought snow last night is moving east this morning–snow should move out along with it. There is a chance for some intermittent snow along the Cascades, but the high desert will remain mostly dry through the day.
There is a chance for a passing snow shower early Saturday, but after that, we are in the clear for a while.
If you have pictures or measurements of how much snow you’ve received this week, we’d love to see them! Feel free to share them via the share tab on our website or email them directly to weather@ktvz.com.
You can say goodbye to the snow (at least for the short term), but the cold temperatures are sticking around, so bundle up! Plan for highs in the 30s through the weekend and lows in the teens and singles.
Early next week, temperatures will drop even more. Look for highs to be 15-20 degrees below normal, only topping out in the 20s. Â
Happy Friday and have a great weekend! Stay safe and warm.
