Very cold week with temperatures below zero at times
Cold arctic air is taking over much of the northern United States this week. Plan for temperatures to be 15-20 degrees below normal during the day. Our average high for this time of year is in the mid 40s. Highs will struggle to get above 30 this week.
Today, plan for upper 20s and a few low 30s. It will be mostly cloudy today but there is a slim chance of seeing a snowflake or two fall today. Otherwise, we remain dry until Thursday when snow is expected to return. We will have a number of wet days leading into next week.
Tuesday is expected to be the coldest day of the week. Â
Lows tonight will drop into the single digits and below freezing for the next few nights. A Cold Weather Advisory is out for areas south and areas in the Valley until Wednesday. Criteria for this advisory is wind chills and/or temperatures reaching 10 below. Although we won’t meet the criteria, we will still be very cold at times. It is important to dress appropriately for the cold: hats, gloves, layers. Protect your skin and limit time outdoors, especially in the early morning and late night hours. Frostbite and hypothermia are a concern with prolonged exposure to the cold. Avoid leaving your pets outside, and make sure not to use heaters or generators indoors.
Happy Monday, have a nice day. Stay warm!
