Rain overnight into Thursday morning, warmer this weekend
There is a good chance for the region to get some light rain overnight into Thursday morning. Timing of the rain should be after sunset today and end before or closely after sunrise. The amount of rain will be less than a tenth of an inch, hardly much more than a pleasant spring shower. This time of year, it is nice to get some rain that soaks into the soil and doesn’t run off quickly.
Thursday afternoon will see a mix of clouds and sun as the weak disturbance that brought the rain exits to the east. The weather after that should be dry and much warmer.
Friday will see the mercury in the thermometer rise into the low 70s, about right for this time of year. Normal highs are the upper 60s to low 70s. A good deal of sunshine is also on the docket heading into the long holiday weekend.
Saturday kicks off the three-day weekend with highs in the low 80s and upper 70s. Expect this to be the beginning of a well above normal run that will extend into the short work week.
Sunday will be the warmest day of the weekend as highs will hit the middle 80s. Some models are calling for temperatures in the upper 80s, that may be a stretch, but we will see how that plays out.
Overnight into Memorial Day there is a chance for some isolated showers to arrive, and maybe some thunder. These showers will be over by the early morning of Memorial Day and we should see a mix of clouds and sunshine with highs in the middle to upper 70s.
The short work week will be mainly mild and dry with highs in the upper 70s and a few low 80s.
Memorial Day Weekend is the unofficial start to summer to many people, and with highs in the upper 70s and low 80s next week, the weather pattern agrees.
