Sunny and dry for Father’s Day
Quite a run this week as far as temperatures are concerned, upper 90s Monday to upper 60s and low 70s Friday. Now pattern will warm up again as we move forward through the weekend and into next week.
Today will be mostly sunny to partly cloudy as the mercury in the thermometer will top out in the upper 70s. The winds will be on the light side, but still noticeable from the north at around 10 mph. The day will start out sunny, then a few clouds arrive in the afternoon.
Father’s Day will be lovely as highs reach the low 80s under mostly sunny skies. The normal high temperature for mid-June in Bend is around 75, so we will be a few degrees above that Sunday. Great day to visit a park or take a pleasant hike in the area. Be careful with your outdoor bar-b-que plans with respect to any fire issues. We are in wildfire season, so make sure to keep an eye on any outdoor burning, including the bar-b-que.
This is also the last weekend of Spring 2025. Spring ends on the 20th of June as the Summer Solstice is next Friday. That is defined in astronomical terms as the moment in time when the direct rays of the Sun over the tropic of Cancer. This year the solstice occurs at 7:41 pm local time.
Summer seems to have started early with all the 90-degree heat earlier this week, but we are officially still in the Astronomical Spring. The Meteorological Summer, however, is in full swing and defined by the three warmest months (June, July, and August).
