High fire danger today, temperatures begin to drop
Bend, OR (KTVZ) -
Temperature today will be hot for some but not as nearly hot as the last two days. We tied the record high in Bend yesterday with 99 degrees. Look for highs to be in the upper 80s and low 90s this afternoon under sunny skies.
Hot, critically dry, and gusty winds are creating dangerous fire conditions. Winds will gust around 25mph from the northwest. No storms are forecasted until this weekend, so it is up to you to prevent wildfires. Remember to always practice fire safety.
Tomorrow, temperatures become much more comfortable. Highs will be near normal, in the low to middle 80s. We’ll stay within five degrees of normal through the weekend.
A new system moves in over the weekend which will bring rain and storm chances. A low pressure trough approaches Friday and will impact Central Oregonians by Saturday. A cold front will pass and bring rain on Saturday and the potential for some rumbles of thunder overnight. Storm chances increase Sunday morning and will continue through the first half of the day before beginning to clear into next week.
We’ll continue to monitor changes to the weekend forecast.
Have a safe and wonderful Wednesday!
