Cooler weekend ahead with some mountain snow & rain

KTVZ

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) - We’re tracking a cooling trend heading into the weekend.

Expect increasing clouds Friday as a trough of low pressure drops south into the Pacific Northwest. Afternoon highs will reach the mid 60s with winds gusting 20–25 mph at times.

Showers return to the Cascades Saturday, bringing a mix of mountain rain and snow. Across the High Desert, conditions stay mostly dry with a mix of sun and clouds. A few light rain showers and maybe a flake or two will mingle in across Sisters and La Pine.

Highs Saturday will be in the upper 40s to low 50s Saturday.

Sunday begins a period of drier weather as a ridge of high pressure offshore gradually builds closer to the Pacific Northwest. Highs will warm into the upper 50s Sunday afternoon, which is a few degrees below average for this time of year.

Weekend lows will drop into the 20s and 30s across the region.

If you’re ready for warmer weather again, you won’t have to wait much longer!

Next week brings mostly sunny skies and a warming trend across Central Oregon. Highs climb into the mid 60s Monday, low 70s Tuesday, and mid 70s by Wednesday and Thursday.

Drought Update:

Thursday’s updated Drought Monitor shows worsening conditions across Central Oregon. Parts of the region are now in Extreme Drought, while much of the Tri-Counties remains in Severe Drought. Low reservoir levels, reduced streamflow, stressed crops and livestock, and increased wildfire danger continue to be major concerns. An Emergency Drought Declaration issued earlier this spring remains in effect.
