Summer-like feel for Memorial Day weekend

KTVZ-TV

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) - We’re tracking warmer temperatures as we head into Memorial Day weekend, often considered the unofficial start to summer.

Temperatures have been steadily climbing across Central Oregon this week. The lack of movement from high pressure off the coast has kept conditions dry and temperatures running above normal.

Highs today will reach the upper 70s and low 80s under mostly sunny skies. Winds will be light and variable with some gusts near 15 mph at times.

The warmest day of the stretch looks to be Saturday, with highs climbing into the mid 80s. Temperatures cool a few degrees Sunday, but it will still feel summer-like.

Memorial Day Monday looks to be a transition day as a low pressure system drops south from the Gulf of Alaska. A cold front moving through the Pacific Northwest late Monday into Tuesday will bring our next chance for rain.

Increasing clouds are expected on Memorial Day, followed by a chance for light rain overnight into Tuesday. If you’re heading to a Memorial Day parade or service during the day, conditions are expected to stay dry.

Highs Monday will still reach the mid 70s before cooler weather arrives Tuesday.

Tuesday will feel much cooler as clouds and light rain linger through much of the day. Highs will only reach the low 60s. Lingering clouds and a few showers remain possible Wednesday before drier conditions gradually return Thursday.
