Scattered storms possible today, stray showers Tuesday

KTVZ

Bend, Ore (KTVZ) – Mostly cloudy skies early in the day slowed down the heating process, so I don’t expect to see our high temperatures peak past 90.  There is still a chance for some isolated showers and storms to arrive, with slow movement. The showers will more than likely stay fairly stationary, so not a widespread rainy day, just pockets of rain.

The National Weather Service has placed a good portion of the region north and south of the Tri-Counties under a Red Flag Warning. These go into effect Tuesday as the region will be hotter and drier than what we are experiencing today.

Tuesday will be similar to today as a few stray showers will cross the Tri-Counties in the afternoon.  Highs will be allowed to hit 90 again as there will be more sunshine than clouds so the showers will be more “pop-up” style in the heat of the day.

Wednesday begins a stretch of dry weather that will last into the weekend. Highs will reach the upper 80s each day under mostly sunny skies. Winds are expected to be light and the conditions from Wednesday on are what I like to refer to as “Chamber of Commerce” days. Great showcase for our region weatherwise.
The warmest average or normal high in Bend is 86-degrees. That is in our climatological page from July 21st to August 5th.  Therefore, we are not expected to hit 90 as an average at any time, but we have been in the 90s six times this summer, which is fairly early in the season.

Please, Stay safe.
