Heat, air quality concerns and storm chances ahead

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) - An Air Quality Alert is in effect for Central Oregon today. Smoke from wildfires burning across the region could cause air quality to reach unhealthy levels.

Temperatures will climb into the 90s today as the hotter pattern continues. There is a slight chance for isolated thunderstorms today, with better storm chances arriving Wednesday.

A Red Flag Warning takes effect tomorrow at 11am due to the threat of dry isolated to scattered thunderstorms. These storms could produce frequent lightning and stronger wind gusts. Any new or existing fires could spread quickly, so outdoor burning is not recommended.

Whether we reach the mid 90s will depend on when the rain arrives. Earlier rain and cloud cover could keep temperatures cooler.

Some showers and thunderstorms could return Thursday, which is also expected to be the hottest day of the week.

A hot and dry pattern returns Friday, with temperatures cooling slightly into the low 90s. Similar conditions will continue through the weekend.

Overnight temperatures will fall into the 50s and 60s over the next several days.
