Local Alert Weather Day for Thursday: Ongoing air quality concerns

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) - We are extending the Local Alert Weather Day through Thursday due to ongoing air quality concerns. The Air Quality Alert is still in effect for Central Oregon.

Strong to severe storms moved through the region last night, bringing gusty winds and lightning. Approximately 42 new fire starts were reported, though many are small.

Limit your time outdoors when air quality is unhealthy. If you must go outside, avoid strenuous activity and wear a well-fitting N95 mask.

Highs could reach into the upper 80s and low 90s today, but areas of smoke may limit daytime heating.

We will likely stay dry today, although a few storms are still possible across parts of Oregon.

Very warm to hot conditions will continue Friday through the weekend, with highs in the upper 80s to low 90s. The dry pattern is expected to last for several days.

Temperatures will dip slightly early next week, but highs will remain above normal in the upper 80s.
