Bend-La Pine free summer meals start June 18

Children age 0-18 are invited to eat healthy, tasty meals for free all summer long at locations throughout Bend and La Pine, thanks to the Bend-La Pine Schools’ summer meals program.

The program, which is funded through the United States Department of Agriculture, includes lunches of a hot entree or sandwich, fruit, vegetable, low fat milk and an occasional dessert. Parents are encouraged to attend and may purchase a meal for $4 or can bring their own lunch. Registration is not required. Those planning to bring a large group should contact 541-355-3740.

(Monday – Friday, June 18 to Aug. 17 unless otherwise noted; closed July 4)

Al Moody Park, 2225 NE Daggett Lane; 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Boys & Girls Club – Bend-La Pine Schools Education Center, 520 NW Wall St.; 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; afternoon meal 3:45 to 4:30 p.m. (program runs through Aug. 24) Country Sunset Mobile Homes, 61445 SE 27 th St.; 12:15 to 12:45 p.m. (only July 6, July 13, July 20 and July 24) Harmon Park, 1100 NW Harmon Road, 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Larkspur Park, 1700 SE Reed Market Road, 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Pilot Butte Neighborhood Park, 1310 NE Hwy 20, 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Pine Mill Apartments, 111 SE Cleveland Ave.; 12:15 to 12:45 p.m. (only Aug. 3, Aug. 10, Aug. 17 and Aug. 24) R.E. Jewell Elementary School, 20550 Murphy Road; 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. (on north playground, enter through Sun Meadow Park) The Pines Mobile Homes, 61001 Brosterhous Road; 12:15 to 1:15 p.m. (only July 23, July 30, Aug. 6 and Aug. 13)

La Pine area locations:

La Pine Event Center, 16405 First St. (next to La Pine Public Library); noon to 12:45 p.m.; (July 9 to Aug. 17); breakfast served Tuesdays only 8 to 8:30 a.m.
