Post man killed, 2nd critically hurt in rollover crash

One resident of the Crook County community of Post was killed and another was critically injured in a rollover crash on state Highway 380 early Wednesday morning, Oregon State Police reported.

OSP troopers and emergency personnel responded around 12:15 a.m. to the reported crash on Highway 380 (also known as the Post-Paulina Highway) near milepost 23, just outside of Post and southeast of Prineville, OSP Sgt. Michael Berland said.

A preliminary investigation found that a black 1999 Subaru Impreza driven by Joshua Perman, 28, was heading west when it left the road for unknown reasons and rolled several times, Berland said.

Both Perman and passenger Alfred Cody, 46, were thrown from the car. Perman was pronounced dead at the scene, while Cody was flown by air ambulance to St. Charles Bend, where a house supervisor said he was in critical condition later Wednesday morning.

“Speed and alcohol are believed to be contributing factors” in the crash Berland said in a news release. He also noted that Perman was believed not to be wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

OSP was assisted on scene by the Crook County Sheriff’s Office and other Prineville-area emergency responders, the Crook County District Attorney’s Office and medical examiner, as well as ODOT.
