(Update: Service restored after three hours)

A problem with one of the power lines feeding from Central Electric Cooperative’s Bend substation cut power to nearly 620 members east of Bend for three hours Sunday afternoon, officials said.

According to a posting on CEC’s website, the power outage began around 3:30 p.m. and was over shortly after 6:30 p.m..

Officials said the outage was caused by “a malfunctioning piece of technology that supports operation of one of the major circuit breakers in the Bend substation near Neff and Erickson roads.

The affected area was north of Highway 20 to Bend Municipal Airport and from Erickson and Neff on the west to the end of Terry Drive and out Alfalfa Market Road past Dixon Loop.
