Highway 97 repaving S. of Sunriver set to begin

KTVZ

Relief from a bumpy ride on Highway 97 south of Sunriver is on the horizon, with a paving project set to begin next week, the Oregon Department of Transportation said Wednesday.

Under contract to ODOT, crews from Roy Houck Construction will repave about 17 miles of the highway between the Sunriver interchange and the Highway 31 junction south of La Pine.

The work will begin Sunday evening through Friday morning from 7 p.m. till 7 a.m. and will continue until the repaving project is completed.

The $9.8 million project includes an ongoing “streetscape” project in downtown La Pine to install sidewalks on the west side of the highway and make other improvements, including upgrading signs and guardrails and installing rumble strips.

While construction takes place overnight, lane closures, travel lane shifts and delays up to 20 minutes can be expected. All work on the project is expected to be completed by November.
