Salem strip club shooting victim’s family seeks $3.6 million

SALEM, Ore. (AP) – The family of a man fatally shot at a Salem strip club seeks $3.6 million in a lawsuit against the club.

The Statesman Journal reports that relatives of Darryl Jones claim the owners of Stars Cabaret provided lax security by failing to ban known gang members and failing to screen patrons for weapons.

The shots fired July 18, 2015, hit several people, including bystanders such as Jones.

The 27-year-old convicted felon who fired the shots later pleaded guilty to murder and attempted murder, and is serving a life sentence.

Club owner Randy Kaiser says the shooting was a tragic event that couldn’t have been predicted or prevented, and investigations by police the Oregon Liquor Control Commission found no fault on the club’s part.
