C. Oregon’s Shower Truck provides for those in need

KTVZ

There’s a truck cruising around Central Oregon with something inside you might not expect.

It’s called the Community Shower Truck, and inside are showers connected to a 450-gallon water tank.

The truck has been providing showers to Central Oregonians in need for the past seven years.

For some people, showers are hard to come by, and this service provides them with cleanliness.

Along with the hot shower, people are given clean towels, soap, razors, toothbrushes and toothpaste, according to Tom Stutheit, the organization’s president.

“This is the one thing I think that Bend has needed for the homeless is showers. Everybody seems really pleased with it. They’re happy to come in and take a hot shower and get cleaned up,” Stutheit said Wednesday.

The shower truck is run by a team of volunteers and the water is donated by the Foundry Church.

The truck is at Family Kitchen three times a week and in Redmond once a week.
