Idaho woman killed in Lake County motorcycle crash
A Boise woman was killed and a Caldwell, Idaho man was seriously injured in a motorcycle-car crash Sunday afternoon on U.S. Highway 395 in Lake County, Oregon State Police reported Monday.
A preliminary investigation found that Jacob Alexander Lepeilbet, 26, of Caldwell was heading north on a blue 2015 Harley-Davidson motorcycle with Hailey Michelle Ernest, 35, of Boise as his passenger when “for an unknown reason” he failed to stop for a white 1995 Ford Taurus, stopped in the northbound lane and signaling to turn left, OSP Captain Tim Fox said.
Ernest suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. Lepeilbet had “significant injuries,” Fox said, and was taken first to Lake District Hospital and later flown to St. Charles Bend, where a house supervisor said he was in fair condition Monday afternoon.
The driver of the Taurus, Ronald Foltz, 59, of Lakeview, sustained minor injuries, the OSP captain added.
Highway 395 was closed for more than three hours following the crash, Fox said. OSP was assisted at the scene by ODOT and the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
