Woman found dead in Tigard duplex after fire

KTVZ

TIGARD, Ore. (AP) – Authorities say a 69-year-old woman was found dead inside a Tigard home that erupted into flames.

The Oregonian/OregonLive reports crews responded to the duplex Thursday morning, according to Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue officials.

Spokeswoman Kim Haughn says the woman’s brother was able to escape and was treated at a hospital for smoke inhalation.

It took two dozen firefighters 10 minutes to bring the burning residence under control.

Firefighters searched for the woman and found her dead inside the charred home, Haughn said. The Washington County Medical Examiner’s Office will determine her cause of death.

Authorities say an occupant in the duplex’s adjacent unit was also able to escape uninjured.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire.
