Mt. Bachelor gives $200K to MBSEF capital campaign
Mt. Bachelor has presented a $200,000 donation to the Mt. Bachelor Sports Education Foundation in support of the organization’s capital campaign to build its first permanent home and training facility for Central Oregon youth pursuing mountain sports.
MBSEF launched its A Place To Soar Capital Campaign in October 2017, with a goal of constructing a permanent MBSEF center on property accessible to Mt. Bachelor by 2020. The facility will be located at 2765 NW Lolo Drive on a 49,000-suqare-foot lot.
The property has already been secured, contingent upon MBSEF meeting its campaign goal of $4 million.
The indoor/outdoor training facility will be a second home for hundreds of youth, where they can channel their interests and energies into lifelong habits of personal growth and success on and off the mountain. This will be the first permanent facility for MBSEF after 90 years of serving youth in Central Oregon.
“We are incredibly grateful to Mt. Bachelor for their ongoing partnership and for this generous gift that will help MBSEF create a second home for local youth,” says MBSEF Executive Director John Schiemer.
John McLeod, President and General Manager of Mt. Bachelor, participated in a check presentation ceremony on Monday involving MBSEF leaders and youth. He stated, “Mt. Bachelor and its parent company, POWDR, are proud to make a contribution to this campaign which will enable MBSEF to continue its mission of supporting local student athletes long into the future.”
Project leaders report the capital campaign is off to a strong start and a big campaign announcement is expected in November. Learn more about MBSEF at www.mbsef.org.
