Confidence rises for incoming rain event across High Desert

KTVZ-TV

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) - Greetings folks, and happy Tuesday to you. We've been enjoying another warm day across Central Oregon today, and we've got one more warm day ahead before our next weather maker arrives.

Tomorrow- highs will climb into the low 70s, which is nearly 10 degrees above our average high of 61 for this time of year. We'll see plenty of clouds throughout the day, but the best chances for rain will hold off until after midnight Wednesday.

And now I can say confidently folks, rain is finally on the way! Rain chances are increasing for Thursday, with beneficial moisture expected across the High Desert. Most locations will likely pick up a few hundredths of an inch, while some areas may see a tenth or two. With Central Oregon continuing to deal with drought conditions, any moisture sure is welcome news. Of course, we need more than just one rain event to make a significant dent in the drought.

Temperatures will cool along with the rain on Thursday, with highs dropping back into the low 60s, and then mid-50s Friday. Looking ahead to the weekend, highs will generally stay in the upper 50s to low 60s, with drier conditions returning. With that said, enjoy your last warm day tomorrow before we trade the warmth for some much-needed moisture!

We'll continue tracking this rain system and how much moisture could reach your neighborhood. We'll have the latest updates right here on KTVZ.com and during our daily newscasts.
