(Update: OSP identifies injured driver and passenger, two of three people killed)

Three people were killed and two others suffered serious injuries in a single-vehicle crash on state Highway 22E near Gates on Monday evening, Oregon State Police reported. All but one name was released late Tuesday afternoon.

Troopers and emergency personnel responded around 6:40 p.m. to the reported crash near milepost 35, about three miles east of Gates on the route between Central Oregon and the Willamette Valley, OSP Captain Tim Fox said.

A preliminary investigation determined that five people were in a silver 2004 GMC Envoy that was heading west when it left the road and struck several trees, Fox said.

Two passengers were thrown from the SUV and died at the scene, as did a third passenger who remained in the vehicle, he said. The driver and the fourth passenger were taken to an area hospital with serious injuries.

OSP late Tuesday identified two of the victims who died as Daniel Oneal, 24, of Foster and Amanda Salmon, 23, of Lebanon. The driver, David Trimble, 31, of Lebanon., and passenger Brandon Mims, 34, also of Lebanon, were taken to the hospital with serious injuries, troopers said.

The other passenger who died was identified Wednesday as Stacie Williams, 31, of Ocala, Florida.

Fox said speed and alcohol are being investigated as possible factors in the crash.

Highway 22E was closed for about 2 1/2 hours after the crash. The eastbound lane then opened for alternating traffic with flaggers. The highway fully reopened shortly before 1 a.m.
