Roseburg woman dies in I-5 crash near Cottage Grove
A Roseburg woman was killed in a crash Saturday evening on Interstate 5 near Cottage Grove, Oregon State Police reported.
Troopers and medics responded shortly before 7 p.m. to the reported crash near milepost 170, OSP Captain Tim Fox said.
A preliminary investigation found that Seth Kamel, 30, was driving a 2001 Buick Le Sabre heading south on the freeway when he drifted into the median for unknown reasons and struck the guardrail.
Passenger Linda Cole, 71, of Roseburg, sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene, Fox said. Kamel was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.
The investigation is continuing, Fox said. OSP was assisted at the scene by Lane Rural Fire Authority and ODOT.
