Redmond woman charged after SUV crashes into pasture
A Redmond woman was injured and charged with DUII (prescription drugs) and reckless driving after crashing her SUV through a fence and into a pasture along South Canal Boulevard Thursday afternoon, Deschutes County sheriff’s deputies said.
Deputies were dispatched to the reported crash shortly before 4 p.m., Lt. Mike Biondi said.
They contacted the driver, Sharon Brayton, 55, who was alone in the silver 2005 Honda CRV and had gotten out on her own after the crash, Biondi said.
An investigation revealed Brayton was heading south on Canal Boulevard when her SUV left the road shoulder, went down a four-foot embankment and through a wooden post fence, the lieutenant said.
After landing in the pasture, Brayton drove along the fence line, eventually crashing into it before coming to a stop.
Witnesses told deputies Brayton’s SUV had been swerving and driving into the oncoming lane minutes before the crash.
Redmond Fire medics evaluated Brayton at the scene and took her to St. Charles Redmond for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, Biondi said. After the investigation, Brayton was cited on the DUII and reckless driving charges and was left in the care of medical staff, he added.
