Dry and hot pattern remains

Mostly sunny skies and dry air will allow temperatures to warm well above normal today.

High temperatures today are likely to top out in the upper 80s to low 90s in most locations. This will be more reminiscent of an August weekend versus the middle of September. Normal high temperatures for this weekend in Bend are the mid-70s, so the low 90s is well above average.

Sunday may be interesting as there will be clouds moving in as the day moves along. This will help keep the mercury in the thermometer from rising into the 90s, but I am still expecting a warm day in the middle 80s.

Monday will be the day of transition as we drop from the 80s to the 70s with a bit of a breeze. Temps continue to drop as the week moves on with highs on Wednesday only reaching the middle 60s.

This is also the last weekend of the Astronomical Summer as the Autumnal Equinox occurs on Friday at 11:49 pm local time. That is the exact moment the direct rays of the sun are perpendicular to the equator. Equal parts daylight and darkness.
