Mostly cloudy Monday with showers

Fill up your coffee cups, happy Monday! A low pressure system off the coast will continue to guide an atmospheric river (a long, concentrated region in the atmosphere that transports moist air from the tropics to higher latitudes) across the western PacNW.

The bulk of precipitation today will stay west of the Cascade crest. Some light rain chances will persist across the Cascades east slopes as well as the lower elevations including us here in Central Oregon!

The rest of the region will be under the influence of a drier air mass  and later this afternoon, breezy winds out of the south across central and eastern Oregon will result in the potential for elevated fire weather conditions in some areas. As of now there are no Red Flag warnings in place.

Air quality today is “Good” to “Moderate” and with upcoming precipitation in the forecast area, we certainly hope to be able to report continuous improvements to the AQI.

Highs today will be I the 60s and overnight lows a degree or two warmer but still primarily in the 40s across the High Desert.
