Early-morning fire destroys shop NW of Redmond; losses estimated at $100,000
REDMOND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- A fire destroyed a shop building northwest of Redmond early Sunday morning, causing an estimated $100,000 in losses, but crews were able to keep it from spreading to a nearby propane tank, despite icy roads delaying their arrival.
Redmond Fire & Rescue responded around 3:30 a.m. to the report of a shop on fire in the 6000 block of Northwest 66th Street, Fire Marshal/PIO Tom Mooney said.
Very icy roads caused a longer than normal response time, he said. Crews arrived to find heavy flames coming from a 20-by-30-foot shop building.
Mooney said fire crews quickly brought the blaze under control and prevented its spread to a propane tank.
No one was in the building, used to store vehicles, at the time of the fire, the official said.
Fire investigators were on scene Sunday morning conducting interviews and evaluating the scene in an effort to determine the cause.
