Normal temps this weekend, snow possible late Sunday
The coastal low that has been providing us with the clouds and spotty showers continues to meander over the ocean. The challenge with this pattern determining if there will be any widespread precipitation from this feature or will we continue to see the spotty threat of rain.
I believe the clouds will remain as the low will stay off-shore, and the chance for some light rain is possible, but not likely. The mountains will see some snow, but the bulk of the tri-counties will not see much precipitation.
Sunday will see a chance for some snow late in the day, after sunset when the temps cool. There will be a wave of showers for about an hour that may provide up to an inch of snow to the High Desert. This will linger off and on past midnight but I am not expecting much snow will need to be shoveled. Southern portions of Deschutes County may see a bit more than an inch, but not much.
Monday the clouds remain, the temps reach the middle 40s and the isolated/stray shower is on the table once again. This pattern remains in place until Thursday when a more widespread possibility of rain and snow arrives from the northwest.
Punxsutawney Phil did not see his shadow this morning, forecasting an early spring. On a meteorological/astronomical note, the Vernal Equinox is on Tuesday, March 19th at 8:06 pm. That is a bit early as well, since the equinox is usually on the 21st, but of course varies each year. The Equinox is the time when the direct rays of the sun are over the equator.
