Many Bend couples braved the wintry conditions on Valentine’s Day

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- As Valentine’s Day came to a close, Wednesday’s snow did not stop some from celebrating the day of love.

Wednesday in Bend sort of looked like holiday shopping. The difference?

There typically isn't a Winter Weather Advisory issued during the day of love, with heavy snow and slick driving conditions. Ah, but I digress.

In the end, Valentine’s Day may not have gone according to plan, but it was a day that couples will never forget — a day filled with love, laughter, and the beauty of weathering the snow together.

Travis and Mindy Fryback of Bend said they welcomed the snow: “We are out here on Valentine's celebrating our 20-something odd Valentine's Days. We actually live here in Bend, and we are having a stay-cation. We got a room just down the street at the Old St. Francis, and we're kind of ‘let's go.’ We kind of, you know, had this like a few weeks ago, of course, but now that it's snowing, it's like an added bonus.  I thought it was like, instead of a white Christmas, we didn't have much of a white Christmas, but a white Valentine's.”

A number of restaurants said they did receive some cancellations from couples who had reserved dinner weeks in advance, some even months out.

But many couples, family and friends did decide to brave the wintry conditions, to celebrate the day dedicated to ‘love!’
