Mountain snow and rain likely today

Happy Monday!  Some areas may experience freezing temperatures this morning and as such, icy conditions are possible.  Today brings partly clear conditions with cloud cover increasing throughout the day and rain likely later this afternoon.

There is a Winter Weather Advisory in place along the East slopes of the Cascades including La Pine and Sunriver until 11pm Tuesday. Snow accumulations of 1-2 feet are possible above 4000 feet, mainly near the crests. Wind gusts as high as 45 mph are possible.  Lower snow totals of half an inch to two  inches are forecast from 4000 to 4500 feet along the US-97 corridor between Bend and La Pine, Monday afternoon through Tuesday morning.

The low pressure that was bringing precipitation to the area, and particularly the Cascades over the weekend will be moving eastward leaving us clear by late morning with the next wave of mountain snow and lower elevation rain late this afternoon into tomorrow.

Wind appears to be active in the 10-20mph range today out of the south and staying fairly active into the evening.  Temperatures will be in the 40s primarily today; overnight lows will be in the 20s and 30s.
