Mountain snow continues, low level mix still possible this evening

There is still wintry precipitation in the region as mountain snow continues and this may translate to lower elevations seeing some rain and a few snowflakes.  The areas above 4000 feet are still under the Winter Weather Advisory until late Tuesday night so travel over the mountain passes will be tricky. This includes La Pine, Sisters, Lave Butte, and Sunriver where 1 - 2" of snow may accumulate on grassy areas. Winds will be in the 20+ mph range at times, more robust through the passes, so be aware of the high-profile vehicles that may get jostled in the wind.

The Sunriver, La Pine and Lava Butte locations still have the best chance to see some snow mixed with rain today and this evening.  Travel along 97 will be slowed by road spray and periods of rain and snow.  Allow extra time to get to your locations today if you are heading south from Bend. 

Tonight, the temperatures will be much cooler than last night so there is a threat of some icy roadways. All locations should dip into the upper 20s and below, so any water left from today's melt or actual rain will icy up.  Bridges and overpasses are the first to ice up as they get cooled from the top and the bottom, which allows them to cool faster.

After tonight, we are going to be much drier and by the weekend we should be in the 60s.  Tonight will be cold, Wednesday will be chilly, but the gradual warming trend will take us to the middle and upper 50s Friday and Saturday.  Sunday will start a string of 60-degree days under mostly sunny skies and light winds.
