Warmer and dry weather over the weekend

Moving forward into the weekend Central Oregon will be dry and mild. Plenty of sunshine in the afternoons and clear skies at night will allow for about a 30° swing in temperatures from sunrise to mid-afternoon. The clear skies at night allow the region to cool quickly then, the clear skies in the daytime hours will allow the sun to warm the region quickly.  Bottom line: there will be a quiet and dry weekend.

The mercury in the thermometer will reach the 60s for the next four days and may breach the 70° mark on Monday or Tuesday.  The warm up is due to the large ridge of high pressure that has overtaken the eastern Pacific and will remain in place for several days.

The highs on Saturday and Sunday will be in the low to middle 60s under sunny skies. Winds will not be much of an issue as the winds looks to be in the breezy category.  A great weekend to get out and about, possibly getting in a nice hike or bike ride. Ski resorts have plenty of snow to groom so the weekend looks great for that activity as well.

Tuesday will be the beginning of the Astronomical Spring, the Vernal Equinox will occur at 8:06 pm. This is the time when the direct rays of the sun are over the equator and we are to see equal times of daylight and darkness.  Then the days get longer than the nights until the Summer Solstice in June.

Interestingly, the temperatures will be much cooler on Wednesday as a cold front pushes through. Highs Wednesday are expected in the upper 50s followed by a slight chance of rain Thursday along with mountain snow.  Better chance for the rain will be on Friday, but this far out our models are hinting at both days.
