Sunny and warm pattern ending, colder and wintry the rest of the week
The short run of above normal temperatures will end today as a cold front pushes through the region tonight. Expect to see the temperatures only reach the upper 40s Wednesday along with mountain snow.
The precipitation over the next several days will be a mix of rain and snow. The snow will fall overnight in some spots and cover mainly the grassy areas. Roads are going to be impacted by patchy ice in some of the passes and slick conditions due to the mix of rain and snow. The ground is not frozen, so accumulations will be low, but there will be snow falling at times.
Travel over the next few days will be tricky and the roads may see some icy bridges and overpasses.
This colder than normal pattern will last until the weekend with the overnight temps hitting the upper 20s and the afternoons topping out in the 40s.
Generally, off and on rain and snow will define the region through Friday. Mountain snow will be likely each of the next several days.
