Cool weekend with mountain snow

The area will still be in “winter-mode” as the mercury in the thermometer will only reach the upper 40s and low 50s over the weekend. Most of the snow has melted in the area and there is only a slight chance for a stray shower either Saturday or Sunday.  There will, however, be a good chance for snow to fall on the Cascades.  Travel over the mountains will be slick and tricky so prepare for some slippery scenario.

A mixture of clouds and sunshine will best define the region over the weekend as a weak northwest flow of air brings in some moisture.  Most of the moisture will get squeezed out by the mountains, leaving only a slight chance for some showers east of the Cascades.

Monday, we start a significant warming trend that will last through the week. Highs will be slightly above normal, but it is the first day in a string of days that will be above normal. 

Highs on Tuesday are likely to be in the 60s followed by highs in the 70s on Wednesday and Thursday. We may have rounded the corner into an elongated stretch of dry and above normal days.

The eclipse is on Monday but the percent that the sun will be covered in our area is only about 15%.  So, just a sliver of the sun will be blocked by the moon.
