Dry and warming this week, rain returns Friday

The region is now in a cycle of warmer than normal weather as the region will see temps in the upper 50s at the start of the week, to near 70 by the middle of the week.  The high temperature readings are a result of an area of high pressure that will keep the skies mostly clear and dry. The next chance for us to see some rain will be on Friday.

The highs Tuesday will reach the low 60s under sunny skies and a light wind.  This quiet pattern is expected to linger through at least Thursday. Very different week from last week when we saw temps hit 80 on Tuesday, followed by snow overnight into Thursday. We have rebounded from the much colder than normal temps late in the week, and are now ready to push above normal this week.

There will still be some spring snow for the Cascades late this week, but we do have a dry pattern to contend with first. There will be a cold front arriving from the west and northwest Friday which is slated to bring some mountain snow. There will not be much, only a few inches are expected, but it is still a contribution to the base.

The lower elevations are likely to see rain on Friday, but not much and it will be spotty or isolated.

Enjoy the mild and dry week and remember, the creeks and streams may be running fast as the snow melts. Stay alert when on the banks of a creek or stream, soft soil may yield to the water.
