Showers and a few storms possible Friday and Saturday

The Pacific Northwest is about to have a pattern change, from dry and mild to rainy and stormy.  The storms will be few and far between, but still possible. A weak cold front will cross the region overnight and drag some rain along with it.  The chance for rain will be fairly widespread and in the late afternoon or early evening we may hear the rumble of thunder. The Storm Prediction Center has placed Eastern Oregon under the Marginal Risk for severe storms Friday with gusty winds and hail the main issues.

Central Oregon is not included in the risk region, but there will still be a few thunderstorms to contend with late in the day.  If you are out and about, make sure you are prepared to take cover from the lightning.  If thunder roars, go indoors. 

Saturday will see more showers and possibly some more thunder.  The rain will be on the light side, but a few pockets of moderate to heavy rain may occur. Keep an eye streams and creeks in the region as the rain and melting snow may combine to allow waterways to run fast and full.

Sunday will see partial clearing in the morning then mostly sunny skies in the afternoon. The creeks and streams will still be moving along quickly and full as there is a “lag time” when it comes to possible flooding.  Stay alert and steer clear of the banks of streams as they may be compromised by the rushing water.

Monday and Tuesday will be much cooler and we may get an inch or so of snow on the Cascades next week.
