Dry, breezy and cooler weekend ahead
The area will be much cooler today and over the weekend as the Pacific Northwest returns to more of a “Spring-like” pattern. The highs will be about 10 – 15 degrees cooler than earlier this week as a dry and chilly NW flow takes over.
A cold front pushed through Central Oregon Thursday effectively ending our 8-day run of well above normal temperatures. The last several days saw temperatures in the middle to upper 70s and low 80s. Over the weekend I expect to see highs in the upper 60s Saturday followed by the upper 50s on Sunday. The chilly day Sunday will be followed by upper 60s Monday.
The month has been interesting with respect to temperatures. Chilly early, with some snow falling in some locations other than the mountains, followed by a very warm week. The next phase is expected to be more in line with middle to late May. Highs in the middle to upper 60s.
The other noticeable feature over the past few days will be the breezy to windy conditions. Gusts near 30 and 40 mph were reported Thursday and the brisk conditions are likely to continue into the weekend. Not quite as robust as Thursday, but still a noticeable breeze will be present most of the time.
The dry pattern is likely to continue as well. The next chance for measurable rain will not be until late Tuesday or early Wednesday. Light and spotty showers will be the best way to define the rainy period.
