Warmer than normal today, a few isolated storms in the east

The hotter than normal conditions continue this weekend and into next week as temperatures will stay in the 80s each afternoon. Highs are normally in the low 70s in early to mid-June, we have consistently been in the upper 80s and low 90s. Friday is expected to be the warmest day of the period but only a few degrees less on Saturday.

Today will be a warm and sunny day with a few clouds building in the heat of the day. The clouds will be a result of afternoon heating and will possibly pop up quickly and drop some rain in a very condensed location. The term “pop and drop” has been used to be used to describe these types of storms. I do expect to see most of the convective activity off to the east. Highs Saturday will be in the middle 80s.

Sunday will continue with the warm pattern as highs reach the low 80s. A few clouds develop over the region and the flow of air arrives from the north or northeast. The clouds will inhibit the heating process, but I still expect that well above normal pattern to continue. Monday heats back up as the west winds arrive and another ridge in the eastern Pacific influences our temperature profile. The area will be partly cloudy to mostly sunny and the highs will be in the low to middle 80s. Expect more of the same on Tuesday.

Remember to stay hydrated in the heat, and never leave kids or pets in your car. In thirty minutes, your car can warm over 30°, for example, if it is 90° outside, your car will reach 125° inside in about a half an hour.
