Hot weekend ahead, growing fire concerns

Happy Friday Central Oregon!

Today's highs will reach the 90s throughout the region, with hazy conditions expected. The area of high pressure causing this heat is strengthening, and no relief is in sight for the next few days.

Fire danger remains a big concern with the continued hot and dry pattern. Thunderstorms this week ignited dozens of new wildfires due to lighting strikes. Over 325,000 acres are being consumed by active fires in our state.

A Heat Advisory is in effect for Central Oregon from tomorrow through Monday. Temperatures could rise up to 103 degrees, posing a moderate to major risk of heat-related illness. Please take extra precautions if you will be working or spending time outdoors.

The weekend will be another hot one as we top the triple digits once again in Bend. There is a slight chance for showers and thunderstorms as we move into Sunday.

Enjoy the rest of your day.
