Temperatures stay above normal as the dry and hot pattern remains

The region will be dealing with the typical High Desert weather for August as the highs will hover around 90 under mostly sunny skies. Overnight there will be significant relief from the heat as lows dip into the 50s and 40s. Little will change over the next several days as the area is set in a dry and very warm regime.

Wednesday will be mostly sunny and breezy with highs in the low 90s which will be a “rinse and repeat” forecast from Tuesday. The smoke from the aggressive wildfire near Madras, the Elk Lane Fire, will drift over the region and impact most of Jefferson County for a few days. The the air quality in Deschutes County will be impacted by a few smaller fires over the Cascades.

Thursday may see a bit more cloud cover, going with partly cloudy, as some moisture arrives in the region from the Pacific. Not much moisture, but a few clouds will provide some relief from the sun.  The temperatures will be the generally the same, even with the partly cloudy skies.

On Friday we return to the sunny and very warm pattern which will see the temperatures return to the low 90s in the afternoon. Over the weekend the temperature profile drops a few degrees, topping out in the upper 80s under mostly sunny skies.  Near normal next week, with highs in the middle 80s.
