Slightly above-normal highs this week as the summer pattern stays

Today looks a lot like yesterday and Monday. The highs will top out at around 90 degrees. Our highs will be just above or just below 90 through the weekend. This pattern will hold steady for the week, with little change in the forecast each day. Lows will be in the 40s and 50s.

Mostly sunny skies can be expected for most of the forecast period. We’ll see a few more clouds come in on Thursday with a slight shift in the pattern that will allow for some more moisture to move into our area. This moisture won’t mean anything for us other than a little more cloud cover. Areas to our east could see a potential isolated storm or two, with some possible dry lightning.

Smoke from the wildfires, especially the Elk Lane fire outside of Madras will hurt our air quality today.  Winds are coming from the north-northeast which means we’ll be seeing a decent amount of smoke into the Tri-County area today. There is no longer an air quality advisory out for our region, but keep in mind that our air quality is still negatively affected by the smoke. Keep an eye out for any new air quality alerts that might be released in the coming days at the top of our page.

The start of next week looks to cool by a few degrees, putting us in the mid 80s, which is normal this time of year. That classic summer weather will make its long-awaited return. The heat has been extreme recently, but the 80s will be back!

Happy Wednesday.
