Friday Sports Report: Pickleballers rally behind one of their own; Bend Elks in playoffs; Endurance Riding Natl. Championship; HS sports return

On Thursday, Widgi Creek Pickleball Club held a fundraiser for Marti Lamb. Lamb had breast cancer, which led to a severe infection. Tragically, Lamb had to have her arms and legs amputated. She is working on getting back on the court with state-of-the-art prosthetics during a 12-week rehabilitation in North Carolina. A fundraising page can be found at https://www.gofundme.com/f/support-martis-fight-and-recovery.

The Bend Elks, meanwhile, play in the West Coast League playoffs for the first time since 2015, Central Oregon is hosting the 2024 Endurance Riding National Championship - and high school sports are just around the corner.
