Hot pattern returns for Labor Day Weekend

KTVZ

The mild pattern is coming to an end and a much warmer to flat out hot pattern is taking over. The highs in the upper 70s to low 80s are done for a while as high pressure moves in from the west and is reinforced from the south to bring us significantly warmer conditions. Highs will be in the 90s beginning Friday and lasting through Sunday.

Thursday will be the advent of the warming trend as the mercury in the thermometer will peak in the upper 80s most locations. Some locations, like Redmond, Madras and Warm Springs will return to the 90s as the hot pattern sets up for the long holiday weekend.

Friday will be a hot day as most areas will breach the 90-degree mark. Plenty of sunshine and the large ridge of high pressure will combine for the hotter than normal pattern. Normal highs for late August are around 80.

Saturday will see middle to upper 90s in most areas as the last day of the meteorological summer closes with some heat.  The first day of September will continue the hot pattern as Sunday will see temperature readings in the low to middle 90s.

Clouds come in late in the day but will not generate any rain. Labor Day, Monday, will be less hot but still warm as highs hit the middle 80s. Some showers are possible late it the day, so if you have any plans for a bar-b-que Monday, early in the afternoon might be the safe play. The chance for rain is currently only at 20%, so don’t cancel any plans just yet.
