Trial begins over Texas ‘Trump Train’ highway confrontation

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — A federal trial has begun in Texas in a lawsuit against six supporters of former President Donald Trump. Their so-called “Trump Train” surrounded a Biden-Harris campaign bus four years ago. The Democrats say they feared for their lives as a convoy of trucks and cars nearly caused collisions, harassing the bus for more than 90 minutes between San Antonio and Austin. Former Texas state senator Wendy Davis is suing, along with a campaign volunteer, a staffer, and the bus driver. An Obama appointee is hearing their lawsuit. It alleges violations of the federal Ku Klux Klan Act of 1871, which prohibits political violence and intimidation.
